20090831 Happy Merdeka, Malaysia.

MERDEKA!
That's the chant you will hear if you are in Malaysia right now.
Today marked the 52nd year of Malaysia's independence.

31st August is the date.
From 1957 to 2009 ; Malaysia had finally become 52 years-old this year.

I am proud to be a Malaysian.
Perhaps, people thought I am not a great Malaysian, considering I didn't like Malaysian music, I didn't watch much Malaysian movies (except for Allahyarhamah Yasmin Ahmad's awesome movies).

Maybe I am always about other country's music and entertainment - but I had never forgot that I am a Malaysian.
I never forget how to speak Malay, how to sing our national anthem Negaraku.
I never forget that I am a true Malaysian.

I loved learning about Malaysian history.
I am always excited when it comes to making researches about my country.
I maybe quiet and not-sociable, but I want to be a good Malaysian.
I am free from drugs, illegal racing, juvenile cases, what-so-ever bad things ever since I am born.
I don't want to humiliate my country.

Today is the day where Malaysians should memorize how hard it was for our grandfathers, our past ministers tried to get the independence for our country.
As younger generation, we should respect their sacrifices ;
Without them, there will be no today.
Perhaps without them scarifying everything in order to achieve independence,
Malaysians will not live in a harmony life like today.
Those soldiers who died defending our country during the war time ;
We should be thankful to live in the time where Malaysia no longer suffer.

Be thankful for our peace.
Be thankful for our unity.
Be thankful for our improved lives.

Merdeka isn't just about chanting the word over and over again,
Isn't about celebrating it with concerts and fireworks.
It's about realizing that it had been another year since Malaysian became a free country,
Free from being colonized.
It's a day a Malaysian should be proud to be a Malaysian.

Bring up the 1 Malaysia spirit.
We are Malaysians ; who lived among different races and religions yet in harmony.
We are one, together.
Malaysians are always as one.

Let's put our flag up high and pray for the independence to last forever.
I pray that I could give more as a Malaysian,
This country maybe small,
But it have such harmony which could beat any other major countries.

Selamat Menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan yang ke-52.
Satu Malaysia ; Sehati, Sejiwa.

I am proud to be a MALAYSIAN.
Saya bangga menjadi warganegara Malaysia.
What about you?
